The Center for Women's Studies and ResearchRecognizing the necessity of research and academic endeavors in the field of women's studies, the Center for Women's Studies and Research was established in 1986. The Center is non- governmental and affiliated to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The Center aims at enhancing the integration of women in the development process with particular emphasis on their cultural upliftment. The definition of Islamic injunctions on women's rights and status is also envisaged. The Center believes that the social and legal status of women can be maintained only after proper studies and research has been conducted both on theoretical and social aspects of the matter. The results of such studies may then serve as a framework for planning and development programs. The Research Division of the center consists of research teams working on theoretical or social research projects which have priority in light of the national issues and aspirations. Completed research projects include:A Study on population growth patterns in Iran, with particular emphasis on women.A Study on the role of the Muslim family living as a minority in non- Muslim countries. A theoretical analysis of the roles and lives of women presented in the Holy Quran. Projects currently underway include:
A moderately equipped library with computer facilities is also available in the Center. Prospective plans include the development of a women studies program for the education and training of women researchers and analysts who could serve as consultants and advisors in related national organs. |
