Armenian Women's Social Activities

The activities of Armenian women of Iran are directed by Armenian Archbishop Council of Tehran. These activities, carried out by different Armenian women's associations are aimed at the enhancement of social and religious outlook and cooperation among Armenian Women.

The main associations are as follows:

  1. Charitable Association was established in Tehran in 1903; it mainly provides for needy families and the aged. “Saisay Mayreg” Home For the Aged is run under the supervision of this Association.
  2. “Hi Geen” Cultural Association of Armenian Women. This Association was established in 1939 in order to help girls and women's talents in the fields of religion, culture and art through courses in theology, embroidery, sewing and cooking. They have also published a book on Armenian traditional embroidery.
  3. Association of Church Loving Women. This Association was established in 1927. It's main function is to guide youths beside the church. It also provides special dresses for the clergy and the church chorus performing in religious ceremonies.
