In the course of the Islamic Revolution women utilized their strength of purpose to encourage, motivate, nourish and heal human hearts and souls, to give men a vision and create a movement that changed the direction of the history. Throughout the revolution, women as the cornerstone of the family and the Islamic society, kept the torch of the movement burning. In the imposed war, Iranian women proved that they would never give in to any crisis in the future. Since the establishment of the Islamic Republic, Iranian women have been politically active on an equal footing with men. Women were elected to the Majlis (legislative assembly) as from elections for the first legislation, and in the current legislative assembly 9 women representatives are present; they are active members in various commissions.
